چکیده

Stemodia maritima L., is a shrub of the Plantaginaceae family, with some biological activities already described, such as: larvicide, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory. Thus, objective this work was to evaluate antioxidant, gastroprotective ethyl acetate extract from S. maritima. The phytochemical profile investigated through quantification total phenolic compounds, flavonoids, CCD analysis. toxicity performed cell viability using L929 line cell, acute by OECD Guide 423. antioxidant activity analyzed methods reduction ferric ion (FRAP), (TAA), absolute ethanol-induced gastric ulcer model, analysis NO, MDA, GSH MPO levels in stomach tissues. In it possible identify presence triterpenes, steroids, mono, sesquiterpenes. not cytotoxic against lineage, maintaining above 70% at doses tested, did show physiological changes indicative compared control group. presented 157.3 ± 9.7 mg equivalent Trolox/g FRAP method, 50.0 1.1 % TAA. maritima, reduced ulcerative lesion index injured group, increased NO GSH, able decrease concentrations MDA MPO, enhancing their activity.

Gastroprotective Mechanism and Ulcer Resolution Effect of Cyrtocarpa procera Methanolic Extract on Ethanol-Induced Gastric Injury

Gastric ulcers are a worldwide health problem and their poor healing is one of the most important causes for their recurrence. We have previously reported the remarkable gastroprotective and anti-Helicobacter pylori activities of the methanolic extract (CpMet) of Cyrtocarpa procera bark. This work investigates, in a murine model, the CpMet gastroprotective mechanism and establishes its preclini...

Carbon nanotubes provide longer lasting gastroprotective effects for anandamide in stress-induced gastric ulcer in rat

Introduction: Anandamide (AEA) has shown a wide spectrum of pharmacological activities including the effects against the peptic ulcer, meanwhile, the poor solubility or short half-life may negatively affect the effectiveness of this valuable cannabinoid. Based on the superior properties of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) for controlled drug delivery, we aimed to prepare AEA-CNTs complex and evaluat...
